About My Characters... When I started writing in earnest, back in 1989, I began writing screenplays. I have always been interested in not necessarily watching movies on television or in the theatre, but creating them. Or should I say, re-creating the scenes that play out in my head every day, as if on a never-ending movie reel. I took several film classes in my youth, but for some reason I never pursued it as a career. Which now has me wondering why I never pursued that. I was extremely interested in Photography as a career, as well as Interior Design, but somehow settled into the field of Advertising in which I received my degree.
I believe it is because of this interest in movie-making that when I start to write each story I have to select an actual actor/actress to play each character. Not only in hopes that someday my script would be chosen to grace the small silver screen, yes, I’m thinking television productions only now, but to help me move the characters through my head, through the script, as well as help me with dialog.
I had the good fortune to meet one of the actresses that I would love to have play a role in my story, A SECRET WITHIN. Ms. Lindsay Wagner was actually the driving force behind my writing the story, and almost all of my stories back in the 1990's. However, as time marches on, I have come to appreciate other actors and actresses and can see them now acting out the roles of my characters. The likes of Emily Rose, Anson Mount, Lana Parrilla among others I take along on my journey as I come up with the story lines. Perhaps I’ll have the good fortune to meet all the actors and actresses someday. And if the Universe is listening, I will meet them on the set of the production of any one of my stories.
Until then, however, they stay in my head, rehearse their lines and we all rewrite, rewrite, rewrite, until we get the story right and ready for reading by others. While I’m sticking with book formats for now, I’m still not giving up that my stories will someday make it to the silver screen, preferably the smaller one!
